Big Data Engineer (m/f)

The Shared Service Department is responsible for the central, highly available platforms which are used by all Gameforge games. As Big Data Engineer you will be responsible for the integration of data from games as well as the payment platform and web tracking. On this basis, we provide in-house developed web reporting and analysis data marts for the specialist departments.

Tasks to inspire:

  • Participation in varied and challenging projects around our games over their entire life cycle
  • Design, creation and development of our data platforms, processing and services in the cloud, on-premises or hybrid
  • Development of quality-driven software using modern development methodologies
  • Evaluation of future Big Data technologies

Qualifications to convince:

  • Safe handling of Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Kafka, Cassandra
  • Good experience with Big Data technologies in the cloud environment (MS Azure HDInsights or Amazon AWS EMR) 
  • Experience with data transformation tools (e.g. Talend, Pentaho)
  • Very good understanding of event streams and their processing (e.g. Samza) as well as of databases, modelling techniques and SQL
  • Very good programming knowledge in Java, Scala or Python
  • Secure handling of version control systems such as GIT and SVN
  • Knowledge of Linux-based systems is a plus
  • Structured, solution-oriented and independent way of working
  • Distinct communication and cooperation skills as well as sociability
  • Strong curiosity and willingness to familiarize oneself with new tools and technologies, but also with existing code
