Karlsruhe, 1/10/2015 – Version 4.8 of popular fantasy MMO AION Free-to-Play is now available on all European language variants. In the ‘Wind of Fate’ update, players get to see the results of a drastic change to the world of Atreia. The destructive rage of Balaur Lord Beritra has made a victim of the regions of Katalam, Sarpan and Tiamaranta whilst the two new zones Vengar and Signia have risen out of the depths of the ocean. The villain is also the final boss for the coming 12 player instance, Makarna. On top of this, players can look forward to exciting territorial battles between legions and also a reworking of the user interface and class skills.

Vengar and Signia, share a new world
The grand invasion and Beritra’s thirst for power had consequences for all of Atreia. The destruction of the lost continent’s seal generated a tremor that then broke open the surrounding land masses. Sarpan, Tiamaranta and also parts of Katalam sank into the depths of the sea and a new continent rose out. Surviving Daeva daringly ventured into this strange land and set up outposts in order to start their research. The Elyos settled in the west and pitched their tents in Signia. The Asmodians moved to the eastern territories, known as Vengar. Both regions act as designated PvP zones for high-levelled characters.
New instance: Makarna, Beritra’s Refuge
Makarna is the new instance for 12 players with the maximum level of 65. Deep in the catacombs rests Ereshkigal, the third Balaur Lady. She is in possession of an unknown power which has piqued Beritra’s interest. To attain this power, he promised Ereshkigal freedom and allied himself with her. But there is a ruse hidden behind this promise; Beritra works only towards his own goals and motives.
Legions, to arms: Signia and Vengar introduce territorial battles
The regions of Signia and Vengar also have a new mode for legion battling in AION Free-to-Play: territorial battles. Both regions have three territories which can be captured by level 6 legions in territorial battles. Battles take place in a separate area, the Plaza of Challenge. If a region attains first place, they receive ownership of the territory for one week. In this time they can enjoy various advantages, such as strengthening magic, special titles or even invasion keys with which invasion rifts to the enemy territory can be opened and thereby used for tactically important points for future battles.
In addition, update 4.8 delivers changes to stigma and skill systems as well as the interface of AION Free-to-Play. With these changes the start screen now radiates in a new light along with the character selection screen, whilst the character skills are now presented in a separate window, allowing for a clearer overview.
Details on all the improvements can be viewed in the patch notes (https://cmsstatic.aion.gameforge.com/AION_4_8v_Patch%20Notes_EN_30092015.pdf).
