Elsword: update introduces new playable character ‘Ara’

Includes the Sander region and six new dungeons | Third version of the Dark Portal launching

Karlsruhe, 19.12.2013 – Publisher Gameforge’s side-scrolling MMO Elsword is today gaining a further character class, bringing the squad of heroes to a total of seven playable characters: martial arts warrior Ara. Anime fans can also look forward to the new desert region Sander, which comes with six new dungeons as well as the start of the new version of the ‘Dark Portal’.

Spear, stoicism and skill: Ara, the new character

The at-first seemingly shy girl Ara is actually battle-hardened and wise: the trained martial arts warrior relies entirely on her spear and flexibility in battle. She resists her enemies’ attacks with pacy attacks and skilful dodging manoeuvres and makes use of ‘spirit energy’ to power her devastating special attacks. In addition, it is also possible for Ara to take on an alternative form in the shape of a nine-tailed vixen – a legendary and mythical creature that friends of Asian culture will recognise.

Appearing at the end of December, the first class update transforms Ara into the ‘Little Hsien’, a form enabling nimble fairy-like attacks, from level 15 onwards. In this form, the young warrior has a range of combo attacks and special skills at her disposal, which shake the ground beneath her enemies’ feet.

Class update number two is set for the start of January. Once Ara reaches level 35 she will be able to evolve further into the ‘Sakra Devanam’ – and will then inflict even more damage with her melee attacks. All skills will also receive a boost to their range, which makes Ara a particularly lethal foe when she attacks from the air.

The complete package: new region, more dungeons and the third version of the Dark Portal

At its core a classic tower defence game, the Dark Portal is heading into its third iteration. Here players have to protect the ‘El Crystal’ from being destroyed by charging waves of enemies. Each game comprises of 15 game rounds in which both normal monsters and dangerous boss monsters pose a threat.

The new region, Sander, lies in the hot south of the mysterious continent of Elios. The desert town is surrounded by five fields full of monsters all threatening the town. Players prove their courage in six new dungeons and can cash in on big rewards when hunting down the deadly bosses.
