Karlsruhe, 05/10/2018 – On October 3rd, in 2002, the browser game OGame was launched! It went on to become a massive hit which even today, 16 years later, still entertains hundreds of thousands of players. Developed by Gameforge’s CEO Alexander Rösner himself it started the success story of Karlsruhe-based Gameforge AG. This is now being celebrated with a special server and a variety of birthday events.
From 5th to 19th October, all OGame players will be able to fight for supremacy on the event server and in doing so, stand a chance to win various material prizes such as gaming keyboards, headsets and also in-game coupons worth up to 150 euros. The temporary event universe also offers the chance to try out new tactics in the battle for resources. The fun continues in OGame till the 21st October with further events offering players the chance to discover Dark Matter in debris fields or to collect special objects in their expeditions.
OGame is a browser-based and completely free-to-play strategy game set in a science-fiction universe. Players create an economic and military infrastructure with the ambition of facilitating the newest technological advancements. Through the construction of metal, crystal and deuterium, the player's empire grows and thrives: other players can be attacked and their resources can be looted from the debris of their planet. Players can join together in an alliance to work as a team against aggressive planets, to share resources or in times of war, share fleets with one another. Having been in existence since 2002, OGame is celebrating its 16th anniversary this year and in doing so, can be counted as a veteran amongst browser games.
